A Day in the Life of a Private Chef on the Central Coast

Every event starts long before guests arrive. Here’s a peek at a “typical” day—although if you know me, you know there’s no such thing as typical.

4:30 AM – Day-off Prep, Coffee, & Review
While the kids are still asleep, I sneak out to my commercial kitchen space. In these hours I do my final preps and reviews, making sauces, labeling ingredients, and organizing my equipment.

8:00 AM – The Family
This is where I sneak back into my space to do the “mom” thing, making breakfasts, drinking coffee, and listening to music with the family as we start our day together. At the same time, I am also making mental notes for how the rest of my day should flow.

12:00 PM – Kitchen Chaos
Music’s on, knives are out, and my prep table is covered in produce. This is the zone where I make sure each dish is balanced, seasonal, and photogenic.

3:00 PM – Load and Go Mode
Here is where I am doing my final counts, loading my coolers, my equipment, and making note of what’s left to be done onsite at the event.

6:00 PM – Showtime
Guests arrive. The smell of lemon chimichurri is in the air. Wine is poured. I watch the room fill with conversation—and that’s when I know it’s all worth it.
